Binaural Beats for Healing, Growing & Amazing Pain Relief

Binaural beats have helped many people expand their awareness and develop or hone skills and abilities. Recently, an enhanced form of binaural beats has been shown to provide powerful, drug-free pain relief. Binaural beats are the basis of much brainwave entrainment work.

In 1839 Heinrich Dove, a physicist, discovered that by playing slightly different frequencies in each ear, the brain would manufacture a third frequency midway between the first two. Playing these frequencies repeatedly would cause the brain cells to fire in the same rhythm as the frequencies. This trait is called “frequency following response” or brainwave entrainment and the frequencies are called binaural beats. Because headphones are required to achieve this effect, binaural beats are not suitable for use with animals.

Once you understand that different frequencies in the brain are associated with different states of chemistry and consciousness, the importance of brainwave entrainment becomes clear. It gives you a way to program brain chemistry and consciousness. For example, with the proper frequencies you can induce relaxation or sleep, the body’s release of pain-relieving endorphins (neurotransmitters) or sharpen your concentration. Explorers of the frequency following response, have tended to concentrate their research in their own particular interest areas.

Robert Monroe’s particular interest was exploring consciousness and his radio production company began exploring the effects of sound patterns on consciousness around 1956. Monroe began to have Out of Body Experiences and wrote his book Journeys Out of the Body in 1971. He began to work on inducing consciousness states in the laboratory and formed the Monroe Institute from the group of original researchers in 1974.

Monroe began teaching workshops on consciousness including pain and insomnia management and meditation. Synchronization of brainwave states of the two brain hemispheres was considered desirable and Monroe’s brand name for his work, “hemi-sync” was derived from that. He wrote two more books, Far Journeys and Ultimate Journey. Monroe died in 1995 but Hemi-Sync continues on.

Other brainwave entrainment techniques such as isochronic tones began to emerge (headphones not required) but many developers still gravitated to binaural beats.  In 1984 Bill Harris with Wes Waite and a group of friends also interested in meditation, mind states and personal growth began researching and experimenting and sharing their results. For the next four years they documented their mental, emotional, and spiritual changes. Then in 1989 they began marketing their materials and methods to the public under the trademark Holosync from Centerpointe Research Institute.

Changes since then include silent affirmations, support letters, coaches and special reports. Additional tracks working with the delta brainwave range have also been added. A proprietary 3D recording process was developed and Centerpointe also began holding retreats. Bill Harris wrote two books, Managing Evolutionary Growth and Thresholds of the Mind.

OM Harmonics, one of the newer binaural beats product lines,  was created when Vishen Lakhiani recruited Paul Hoffman to bring “multivariate resonance technology” to meditation — this is described as proprietary sequencing of sound frequencies designed to stimulate, balance and activate what they call the four holistic intelligences.

These holistic intelligences are described as physical intelligence connected to frequencies of breathing and heart beat; emotional intelligence connected to heart frequencies; mental intelligence relates to binaural alpha and theta brainwave frequencies; spiritual intelligence relates to light frequencies translated into sound. Produced by Mindvalley, headquartered in Malaysia, their mission is to “push humanity forward” by changing education globally.

As noted  above, developers using binaural beats tend to leave the stamp of their own interests and creativity on their products. With Robert Monroe it was out of body experience, with Bill Harris personal growth and with Mindvalley it is unleashing human potential.

Now comes another example of that personalization but with a twist. Bztronics is an electronic hardware and software design firm that has been on the internet since 1992. They were originally involved with electronic contracts with the likes of Boeing, Lockheed and other military and commercial interests. In 2002 they shifted into research of alternative health systems using frequencies.

And today, they have created a new kind of binaural technology called Trilateral Balanced Sine Wave (TBSW) technology. This is frequency generating software which Bztronics says makes up for a lot of deficiencies in the usual binaural beats technology. The most obvious difference is that more than two frequencies may be used as this generator has a central channel as well as left and right channels.

The description says that the three channels produce a “ four dimensional Pyramid wave. The waveform is also balanced, which syncs both sides of the brain for a much more powerful effect.” Options for spin and scalar waves add additional dimensions to the waveform.

What does all of that mean? Powerful, drug-free pain relief and deep meditational states among other benefits. Testimonials quote relief from arthritic and spinal conditions for which sufferers found no other relief. And, there is an inexpensive way to test these claims.

App developer Brian Zeleniak has used the TBSW technology to create pain killing apps for android and ios systems. The android version is Pain Relief 2.0 sold on Google Play for $6.21. Pain Killer 2.0 is available from iTunes for $2.99. The description lists these pain settings: general pain, muscles and joints, pain + insomnia, headache, migraine, universal pain setting, Rife settings + TBSW, stress relief and rejuvenation.

As anyone suffering chronic pain knows, the pain pretty much takes over your life. TBSW pain relief is yet another form of binaural beats destined to improve the human condition.

Brian Zeleniak has gone on to create a variety of TBSW apps available from iTunes.
